In February 2024, the BAFUNCS Career Paths Programme organised two events which together were attended by a total of around 120 students. The first event was hosted by King's College London (KCL), organized by its United Nations Association (UNA), and was attended by students from KCL and a few other colleges from the University of London. The second event was held as a side event of the London International Model United Nations (LIMUN) conference at Central Hall Westminster. The LIMUN Committee organizes an annual conference of up to 1,000 delegates from UN associations and societies at a wide range of universities in U.K. and from other countries. The BAFUNCS members participating on the panels were Sarah Papineau (LON) and Nicholas Rosellini (LON) at KCL, and then Jocelyn Mason (LON), Sarah Papineau (LON), and Stephen Rudgard (OXF) at LIMUN. The KCL panel was joined by Ramona Popescu from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), to bring an additional perspective on career development. The moderator for the panels was selected by the organizers in each case. The panellists talked about their career paths for the first part of the session, after which there was a lively question and answer session focusing on the competencies and experience relevant to a career in the United Nations. Several students approached the speakers after both sessions to discuss career prospects, and some followed up later for further guidance on their careers.
