“Reasons for Hope” – Sir Richard Jolly’s UN Memoirs

Many of you will remember Sir Richard Jolly, one of our distinguished former Vice-Presidents, and surely one of our most distinguished thinkers on development as well as his book  A Development Economist in the United Nations – Reasons for Hope’. An advance copy of the book was reviewed by John Burley in the BAFUNCS newsletter (No. 80, autumn 2021, p.25).

The book was published in November 2022 by Routledge and formally launched in January 2023 in Lewes in the presence of friends, relatives and former work colleagues. A second presentation took place at the Institute of Development Studies in Sussex, of which Sir Richard is a former Director, and where he is an Honorary Professor and Research Associate.

An article on the book and the launching will be published in the BAFUNCS spring 2023 newsletter
